NumisMedia Weekly Market Report
ANA National Money Show Heads to Portland
March 2, 2015
Despite the bad weather that may have kept some dealers and collectors from attending the first ever PNG Dallas Coin and Paper Money Show this past week, the official sale hosted by Heritage Auctions was a success with prices realized of just over $6.5 million. One of the highlights of this sale was the 1867 $10 Liberty Gold that was graded PCGS PR64+ Cameo and had the CAC sticker. This coin brought $64,625 and is one of only 50 coins originally produced by the U.S. Mint and there are only two listed with the + designation in Cameo, one by each service. Below are some of the other rarities from this sale. Please contact Heritage Galleries for complete prices realized.

This week's Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide is generally mixed with the majority of prices unchanged. However, some of the more common coins that have values from $200 to $800 are being discounted in order to create sales. This softness is mostly the result of some collectors backing off on purchasing new coins for their collections. However, there are still buyers for coins that are rare and have low populations. This seems to be the current trend for most buyers. One area that appears to be attracting more attention of late is the Two Cent series, where we have numerous advances, especially for coins in 64 and higher. The 1865 in MS67 RB is up to $3,650 Market and the 1870 in PR65 Red is at $2,350.
